Military bases of hampton roads

 Norfolk is the world's largest naval station, supporting 75 ships and 134 aircraft alongside 14 piers and 11 aircraft hangars. The base houses the largest concentration of U.S. Navy forces. 

 NAS Oceana has grown to become one of the largest and most advanced air stations in the world, comprising 6,820 acres (including Dam Neck Annex). 

 Dam Neck Annex is a separate military installation that is part of Naval Air Station. It is located just south of Virginia Beach, it provides specialized training and support services for NAS Oceana and other nearby Navy installations

 . Fort Norfolk is the last remaining fortification of President George Washington's 18th century harbor defenses. It has served as the district office for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers since 1923. 

 Camp Peary is a U.S. military reservation near Williamsburg, Virginia, which hosts a CIA training facility known as the Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity (AFETA)   

  Norfolk has been home to NATO since 1952 when NATO’s Allied Command Atlantic was established to bridge the distance between North America and Europe among other critical missions. 

  Marine Corps Community Services Hampton Roads (MCCSHR), at Camp Elmore, is responsible for serving not only those stationed at Camp Elmore, but all Marine Corps commands in the Hampton Roads area.   

 Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress is a military use airport located in Chesapeake. This airport is owned by the Navy and is under the operational control of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.   

NWS Yorktown is a prominent Navy installation near Newport News. It is a central storage and loading facility for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet and Fleet Forces Command 

A naval support facility whose primary mission is to provide a radar testing range, administrative, and warehousing structures for the Norfolk Naval Station. 

 Operated by the Army Corps of Engineers, Craney Island is a major fueling depot for the Navy and a site for dredged materials. 

 The flagship institution for educating national security professionals involved in planning and executing joint operations.​ 

With the main medical center in Hampton, and several satellite clinics in the area, the VA provides care to veterans throughout the Hampton Roads area
